Meet the Doctor

Andrew Ciarlone, D.O.

Dr. Andrew Ciarlone specializes in joint replacement surgery of the hip, knee and shoulder.  He has been a pioneer in outpatient joint replacement and rapid recovery protocols following joint replacement.  He developed the “Rapid Hip Recovery” protocol at Crittenton Hospital designed for same day discharge home after hip replacement surgery.  He was the first surgeon in Michigan to perform Outpatient Hip replacement at a surgery center with “same-day” discharge, at Michigan Institute for Advanced Surgery in Lake Orion, MI.  He utilizes minimally invasive surgical techniques including the Direct anterior approach to hip replacement, and less invasive techniques for total knee and partial knee replacements.  He is one of only a small percentage of Orthopedic Surgeons nationwide that perform the Direct Anterior Approach Hip Replacement and has performed over 1000 of these procedures.

Dr. Ciarlone also treats sports related injuries and performs arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder.  He also cares for trauma patients and fractures with both surgical and non surgical treatment.

He attended Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his Internship and Orthopedic Surgery Residency through Michigan State University’s Pontiac campus at POH Medical Center.  He is currently an Associate Clinic Professor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Ciarlone enjoys Golf, Skiing and Woodworking in his free time.  He and his wife, Janell are also very busy with their 4 children, Drew, Luciana, Owen and Ben.  All of their children are involved in sports activities including lacrosse, soccer and swimming.
